At the end of last week's episode, Lt. Grant (Donnie Wahlberg) let slip that his feelings for Jane are more than platonic. So I was looking forward to finding out just where that was leading. Would things heat up between them? Would Jane overcome her awkwardness around men and let the romance happen? If Jane's mom has any say, things certainly will happen, and Angela gets the ball rolling by insisting that Jane wear a sexy dress when the couple gets together for dinner. But things don't go quite as Mom plans. (Do they ever?)

As Jane and Lt. Grant are riding this emotional roller coaster, there's also a murder to solve: the mysterious death of a boy from the local Cape Verdean community. Even brilliant Maura can't figure out the cause of death, which the boy's family believes is due to an exorcism gone wrong. The tension heats up when Jane's investigation leads to personal threats against her, including a really creepy surprise left in her car.

I know some of the background of this episode, and this particular story was inspired by a real case. Boston is indeed home to a large community of Cape Verdeans.

I wonder if Wahlberg's character, Lt. Grant, is named after a certain real Boston PD detective who's the advisor to the show. Inquiring minds want to know!
