Aaron Spelling
The Guinness Book of World Records cites Aaron Spelling as the most productive television producer of all time. Since selling his first script to Dick Powell's Zane Gray Theater in 1956, he has produced more than 4,500 hours of television programming, including more than 270 hours of movies for television, as well as 11 feature films. Currently, Spelling Television has two of WB Network's highest-rated and longest-running drama series on the air, with 7th Heaven, the network's highest-rated series already renewed for a 10th season, and Charmed, in its seventh season, anchoring the network's Sunday night line-up. He has also produced the breakout hit series Summerland, currently in its second season. Spelling's incredible list of series credits includes Dynasty, The Colbys, Hart to Hart, Charlie's Angels, Fantasy Island, Starsky & Hutch, The Love Boat, Burke's Law, Savannah, T.J. Hooker, Matt Houston, Vega$, The Mod Squad, The Rookies, Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210, Any Day Now, the daytime drama Sunset Beach and the highly acclaimed, award-winning series Family. Among his other critically acclaimed projects are Best Little Girl in the World, Cracked Up, Jane's House, Day One and And the Band Played On, the latter two earning him Emmys. Spelling's prolific company has also produced such feature films as Mr. Mom, 'Night Mother, Surrender, The Usual Suspects and Soapdish. Spelling was the first producer to be honored by the Museum of Broadcasting and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the People's Choice Awards. He has been honored by the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences and the Writer's Guild of America. Spelling also received the NATPE Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1995 NATPE Conference Exhibition and Producer's Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. He was the recipient of lifetime honors from his college alma mater, Southern Methodist University (SMU); was honored by the Television Costumers Union; and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Friar's Club Foundation. In March 2005, he was honored with the first-ever Pioneer Achievement Award from the TV Land Awards.
