Peter Winther

Peter Winther will next direct the feature film The Short Straw for Zentropa. He directed the short film The Tag and the second units on The Day after Tomorrow (Los Angeles Unit), The Patriot, which he also co-produced, Independence Day and Stargate, for which he also served as associate producer. Winther executive-produced Eight Legged Freaks and co-produced Godzilla. His first association with Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin was on the science fiction feature Moon 44, which Emmerich directed and co-wrote and in which Devlin starred. He rejoined the pair on Universal Soldier, which Emmerich directed and Devlin wrote, serving as Emmerich's assistant.

As an executive, Winther was senior vice president of Centropolis Entertainment, where he was in charge of developing all material for the company during their three-year tenure at Sony Pictures. His other production credits include The Good Mother, starring Diane Keaton and Liam Neeson; We're No Angels, starring Robert DeNiro and Sean Penn; and Cutthroat Island, starring Geena Davis.
