Richard Benjamin is a successful actor and director, appearing in films such as Goodbye Columbus, Catch-22, Diary of Mad Housewife, The Marriage of a Young Stockbroker, The Steagle, Portnoy's Complaint, House Calls, Love at First Bite, Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry and The Sunshine Boys for which he received a Golden Globe® Award for Best Supporting Actor. Benjamin's directorial debut, My Favorite Year, brought Peter O'Toole an Oscar® nomination for Best Actor. Benjamin has directed films such as Racing with the Moon, starring Sean Penn and Nicolas Cage; City Heat, with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds; The Money Pit, starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long; Little Nikita, starring Sidney Poitier and River Phoenix; My Stepmother Is an Alien, starring Dan Aykroyd and Kim Basinger; Downtown, starring Anthony Edwards and Forest Whitaker; Mermaids, starring Cher, Winona Ryder and Bob Hoskins; Made in America, starring Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson; Milk Money, starring Melanie Griffith and Ed Harris; and Mrs. Winterbourne, starring Shirley MacLaine, Ricki Lake and Brendan Fraser. He recently completed directing and acting in this summer's Marci X, starring Lisa Kudrow and Damon Wayans.

Benjamin has directed several television features, including HBO's acclaimed The Pentagon Wars and Emmy® nominee Neil Simons' Laughter on the 23rd Floor for Showtime. Benjamin starred in the Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation of Arthur Miller's Fame. He has co-starred with his wife, Paula Prentiss, in the CBS television series He and She. Benjamin also hosted two episodes of NBC's Saturday Night Live, one of which earned an Emmy® nomination.

Benjamin's acting success is not limited to the cinema, but includes the theater. Leading roles in the national companies of Barefoot in the Park and The Odd Couple began his relationship with Neil Simon. Benjamin's Broadway credits include his debut in Simon's The Star-Spangled Girl, followed by The Little Black Book by Jean-Claude Carriere and The Norman Conquests by Alan Ackybourn. Off Broadway he recently appeared with his wife in Power Plays by Elaine May and Alan Arkin.
