Originally called "Mighty Joe Young" by founders Scott Weiland and Robert DeLeo, Stone Temple Pilots (or "STP") came on the rock scene in 1992 with their debut album, Core. With a diversity of styles and compelling emotional lyrics, "STP" followed up their foray into the world of alternative music with the #1 album Purple (1994). Their most recent effort, Shangri-La-Dee-Da, was released this past summer.
