Recognized as a new dynamic voice in country music, the 24-year-old Shelby Lynne Moorer was named "Best New Artist of the Year" at the 2001 Grammy Awards. Already an accomplished performer and songwriter, her albums have incorporated elements of contemporary country, big-band jazz and blues to create her soulful sound. Obviously influenced beyond her Nashville roots, Lynne names John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band as one of her five favorite albums of all-time.
