Attending resident Dr. Mark Greene is a skilled practitioner torn between the demands of his profession and a personal life that is too often sacrificed. Calm, steady and dedicated to his work, Greene is, in many ways, the emotional backbone of the E.R.

Anthony Edwards' work on ER (1994-2002) has earned him a People's Choice Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award. He has also directed an episode of ER. Edwards has starred in such feature films as Top Gun, The Client, Pet Sematary II, Delta Heat, Miracle Mile, The Sure Thing, Gotcha!, Revenge of the Nerds, Heart Like a Wheel and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. On television, Edwards gained notoriety for his recurring role as a hyperallegic lawyer on the critically acclaimed series Northern Exposure. He also starred in the miniseries adaptation of Truman Capote's classic book In Cold Blood and in the Showtime special Sexual Healing, for which he received a Cable ACE Award nomination for Best Actor, as well as telefilms El Diablo, Hometown Boy Makes Good, Going For the Gold: The Bill Johnson Story, High School USA and The Killing of Randy Webster. Recent film projects include Us Begins With You and Jackpot.
