Q: What is this film about?
A: A PERFECT DAY is the morality tale of a man who has an incredible opportunity when his first book becomes an immediate bestseller. He goes on a journey and winds up leaving his family behind. On this journey, he also encounters a stranger who warns him that time’s running out and to get his affairs in order. And he has to make choices before Christmas.

Q: How did this project come about?
A: I’ve always been a Richard Paul Evans fan, so I read the book and fell in love with it and what it was about.

Q: What was it about the book that appealed to you?
A: I love the overall theme that family is the most important thing at the end of the day. I loved that it really pushes the point that those times with your family are the best memories you’ll have. Also life is all about choices. You can make mistakes, and you can come back from those mistakes and be forgiven … especially in a marriage.

Q: What do you think this movie says about the price of fame?
A: The road to redemption for Rob is learning about the cost of success. It does come at a price. Trying to find balance, I think, is a very good theme in the book too. How do you find that balance, take a step back and say, “Wait a second. I do have choices to adjust my life to make it work.”

Q: What makes this movie such a perfect Christmas story?
A: The holidays are about forgiveness and coming together as a family to start a new year together.

Q: How hard was it to cast this movie?
A: We were so lucky when Rob Lowe agreed to play the part of Rob Harlan. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect actor to play him. He’s Rob Harlan incarnated on the screen. We’ve been so lucky, as well, to have attracted Frances Conroy in the role of Camille. She just seems born to play the role of the New York literary agent. And we have Paget Brewster, who plays Rob’s wonderful wife, and they have wonderful chemistry and seem so natural together.And of course there’s also Christopher Lloyd, a wonderful addition to the cast.

Q: Where does the drama come from in A PERFECT DAY?
A: The drama of A PERFECT DAY comes from the difficult journey that this family must take to see if they make the right choices and get back together as a family in the end.
