Joyce Eliason

Joyce Eliason’s screenwriting career began in
1980 with her feature-film adaptation of Tillie Olsen’s novel Tell Me a
Riddle, which marked the directorial debut for actress Lee Grant. Prior to that time, she had written two
novels: Laid Out and Fresh
Meat, Warm Weather.
Focusing her attention on television, Eliason
has amassed an impressive list of credits, including Emmy®-nominated
work for The Jacksons: An American Dream, The Oldest Living
Confederate Widow Tells All, Children of the Dust and The Last
Don. She has also written scripts
for such memorable television productions as We Were the Mulvaneys, Riding
the Bus with My Sister, Gracie’s Choice, Blessings, Open
House, A Loss of Innocence, Sugarbaby, Winnie, Right
to Kill, Blessed Assurance and
Sweet Temptations. Her
miniseries credits include Small Sacrifices, The Last Don II and Blonde,
while her episodic series credits include Angel Falls. She has also worked as a producer on several
of the projects for which she has written.
