What’s your biggest strength?  My confidence and tenacity.

What’s your biggest weakness? Lack of patience and standoffish demeanor.

If your life was an action movie, what would it be called? “The Unbelievable Adventures of Chena.”

What are three things you couldn’t live without? Music, books, and the gym.

What’s your biggest fear?  Being stranded in the open ocean.

Describe your most hero-like moment. Waking up in the middle of the night without an adult present, knocking a charring pot off the stove at the age of three, saving my brother and myself from dying from smoke inhalation.

What’s your guilty pleasure?  White chocolate.

What accomplishment in life are you the most proud of? The completion of my first novel “Chena the making of an Orphan.”

What’s your biggest motivator? I am self-motivated. I am also motivated by a challenge or when someone says I’m not good enough or can’t do something.

Who’s your hero? Oprah, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

What would be your theme song?  “I Will Survive.”

Why did you want to be on this show?  To prove to myself that I am a hero and to inspire others to be the best person that they can be.

What gets your adrenaline pumping (e.g. are you a skydiver? Whitewater rafter? Afraid of public speaking, etc.)  Adrenaline pumps when I have to face any challenge, whether that’s getting in the ring, or performing in front of others, I use that energy to deliver and succeed.

    MORE ABOUT ATHENA

What do you think it means to be a hero? A hero never quits. A hero starts at the bottom and earns his/her way to the top. When a hero gets knocked down, they get back up. They are solid in their principles and their decisions and they never live their days with regret. A hero will give the shirt off of their back despite what they need at the time.

What’s the most important quality that a hero must possess? A hero must be self-sacrificing. A hero will always be willing to take a beating for the benefit of others.

When did you first realize you have what it takes to be a hero? My brother was diagnosed with a brainstem tumor at the age of 4. He was not supposed to live past the age of 9… He turned 26 this year. He fought; he fights every day. I became his guide; his stability. I’ve always been my brother’s protector and guardian. When my brother suffered a stroke a couple months ago, I realized at that point that I needed to be his hero. I proved to myself that I had what it took to stay strong; to not cry in front of him. I had what it took to feed him and help him walk again. His entire life, he’s looked up to me, expecting me to show him the ways and lead him, but he has taught me more than he will ever know about life & bravery. He is the most solid man I know. I realized I was a hero when the hero in my life needed aid from me.

What’s your biggest strength? My selflessness.

What’s your biggest weakness? My inability to love myself judgment free. I am my own worst enemy.

You vs. The Rock: What would be the outcome? He’d give in and fall in love with my charming personality and witty sense of humor, and if that didn’t happen, I’d willingly throw myself into his big man arms.

If your life was an action movie, what would it be called? “Fist of Fashion.”

What are three things you couldn’t live without? Love, Family & Music.

What’s your biggest fear? Being abandoned; left alone.

What’s your guilty pleasure? Ben and my main man, Jerry!

What accomplishment in life are you the most proud of? I am most proud of my retirement from the NFL. At times, I never thought I’d be able to get through my years as a New England Patriots Cheerleader, but when I received my retirement ring, I knew I had done it!

What’s your biggest motivator? I never give up because my brother, mother & grandparents taught me to never give up. I am motivated by family, love (the most complete and important emotion) and education. The thought that you can never stop learning is pure amazement to me.

Who’s your hero? My big brother, Dhosi, is my hero.

What would be your theme song? “TNT” by AC/DC

Why did you want to be on this show? I wanted to be my big brother’s legs & voice on The Hero. He is the most heroic man I know, and after he suffered from a brainstem tumor, medical complications & a stroke before the age of 26, I knew I had to do this for him.

What gets your adrenaline pumping (e.g. are you a skydiver? Whitewater rafter? Afraid of public speaking, etc.) New love gets my adrenaline pumping. You can’t beat that on-top-of-the-world feeling.

    Hometown: Centereach, N.Y.
    Occupation: Part-time construction worker
Motto: "Live life to the fullest and always be happy. You never know what life is going to throw at you, but if you look at the positive in every situation, you can achieve and accomplish anything."
Marty is a 24-year-old, high-energy construction worker. His dad raised him after losing his mother at a young age. Due to financial struggles, they have lived in 15 different places in New York. His past experiences drive him to work hard and be a good person.

    MORE ABOUT MARTY

What do you think it means to be a hero? To me a hero has to be someone that puts others before themselves and is honest and trustworthy and does anything they have to do to succeed and be a good person.

What’s the most important quality that a hero must possess?  I feel the most important thing a hero must possess is determination and the will to do what is right and succeed no matter what the odds.

When did you first realize you have what it takes to be a hero? I have always been crazy, strong physically and mentally, honest, trustworthy, tough, super determined, fearless, and very hard working so I'm not sure when exactly I said “wow I could be a hero” but I feel I have everything and then some to be a hero or at least try to be one.

What’s your biggest strength? My ferocious determination and competitiveness. I never give up, and I will literally die before I ever give up and I'm really strong minded and strong headed so I will do whatever it takes to complete a task whether its physical or mental. I don't accept defeat.

What’s your biggest weakness? I'm a sore loser. I hate losing. I always feel I should win everything and when I don't I get really mad.

You vs. The Rock: What would be the outcome? Me vs. The Rock!!! Well I can tell you one thing - I will go my absolute hardest in whatever it is so he better be ready.

    7. If your life were an action movie, what would it be called?  It would be called “BEASTINNNN IT” because that's what I do everyday.

What are three things you couldn’t live without? My family and loved ones, the gym and nature.

What’s your biggest fear? Losing the people I love, other than that I don't have any.

Describe your most hero-like moment. Honestly, I don't really know. That's hard to say - I'm not a police officer or soldier or fireman that risk their life everyday to help people - those are heroes. I'm just a 24-year-old dude that tries to help people and be nice to everyone and help my family and friends when they need me.

What’s your guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure would probably be sweets. I eat really healthy and go to the gym six days a week for three hours but I occasionally like my pizza and candy and junk food.

What accomplishment in life are you the most proud of?  I think my biggest accomplishment in life is just that I'm a really chill down to earth dude that loves to have fun, help people and be a champ to everyone that I meet.  Also being tough and not letting the bad things that happen in life get me down.  And getting on this badass show is pretty sweet too.

What’s your biggest motivator? Showing everyone and myself what I have and what you can do when you put your mind to something and never give up. I also use things that happened to me in my life like not playing in sports when I should be out there, and people telling me I can't do something and doubting me, that's when I say oh yeah and beastttttt whatever it is that I supposedly can't do just to show them. That's what I use as motivation.

Who’s your hero? My dad is my hero hands down. He is the best man on the planet and has done so much for my brother and me and sacrificed his life to help ours. I love him so much, and I just want to make him and my brother Jake proud of me and that is another motivator for me.

What would be your theme song? I don't know really. If I find one I will tell you.

Why did you want to be on this show? I wanted to be on this show because it’s everything I stand for in my own life. The whole point of this show is to be a good person, a "hero," and work hard and be honest and help your fellow teammates to complete a goal or task. You have to be both physically and mentally tough and you have to give it your all in everything you do. This show was awesome, and I want to be a dude that parents and kids can sit and watch and say that kid is a good kid - he's crazy and energetic and a fierce competitor but a classy dude that doesn't drink or smoke or party. I would love to be a role model for people of all ages.

What gets your adrenaline pumping?  Anything that has to do with competition or a challenge, sports, driving fast, white water rafting, and a lot more.  I am always doing something cool and adrenaline packed and crazy that's just how I am and always will be. I look for stuff to give me that adrenaline rush I need.  Working out also helps with that too. I BEAST IT.

    MORE ABOUT PATTY

What do you think it means to be a hero? A kind, selfless act or gesture that is given without the thought of receiving any praise or gratitude.

What's the most important quality that a hero must possess? A hero must be willing...

When did you first realize you have what it takes to be a hero? I still struggle with this answer because I cannot put myself in the "hero" category. That is for others to identify me with. I think that word is too awesome for me to say I belong there.

What's your biggest strength? The O'Neil Family Motto! "O'Neil's are not Quitters." I love that I never give up.

What's your biggest weakness? MY PASSION! Tears flow way too easily from me and that can be looked upon as a weakness.

You vs. The Rock: What would be the outcome? NO QUESTION! The Rock! He is an Epic Hero! I don't stand a chance!

If your life were an action movie, what would it be called? Love this question! It would be called (especially after this adventure) The Mummy Returns!

What are three things you couldn't live without? My family, who I adore, my friends who mean the world to me, and my lipstick!

    What's your biggest fear? HEIGHTS!!!

Describe your most hero-like moment. Before this show, I would have to say I have never had a hero-like moment. I have never done something great. I have always tried to make everyone's life wonderful, but that meant making a great cup of coffee for someone, or remembering to iron all his work shirts on a Sunday. Never, never, never have I done anything awesome until this show. My most hero-like moments happen during this show.

What's your guilty pleasure? An ice-cold beer with Bobby on a summer night, on our front stoop with great conversation and lots of laughs.

What accomplishment in life are you the most proud of? For sure Connor, Alex and Madeline.

What's your biggest motivator? Bobby! He will always be able to make me do more than I thought I could.

Who's your hero? Any man or woman who serves in the US Military. I also want to say any Mom or Dad, who gets up everyday and does the same job, over and over again, day in and day out, but can manage to come home at night, still with a spark of energy and create a wonderful evening whether it's a dinner made from love, or helping with the homework, or asking about "their" day, and actually just loving to be a part of the family. That person is my hero. They can make the "regular" extra ordinary!

What would be your theme song? This was so tough for me. "Glitter In The Air" by Pink, especially the live version that was on the Grammy Awards in 2010. If you want to know who Patty is, this song and version of it will tell you.

  • hero_cast_david_m1_sprite.png Dr. Dave Age: 50
    Hometown: Beaumont, Texas
Occupation: Trauma Critical Care Surgeon, Director of Trauma Services
Motto: "What someone does to you is their karma; How you react to it is your karma."
Dr. Dave is a 50-year-old trauma surgeon living in Beaumont, Texas. Although one wouldn't guess it, he has suffered through many hardships in his life, including Osgood-Schlatter disease in both his knees. He has never let these obstacles get him down, however. In high school, his dream was to play football, so he worked out every day to get his strength back (after being in full leg casts for two years) and finally made the team. He was not the most gifted athlete, but he figured that if he worked harder than anyone else, he had a shot at being the best. He went on to be the captain of the football team, was all-league and played college football. This has been a theme of Dave's life -- he has been able to do anything he wants to if he just works hard enough at it.

    MORE ABOUT DR. DAVE

What’s the most important quality that a hero must possess? Compassion for other people.

When did you first realize you have what it takes to be a hero? I don't know if I’m a hero but I think what I do is heroic. I have dedicated my life to taking care of the most critically injured people.

What’s your biggest strength? My drive and determination. I never quit.

You vs. The Rock: What would be the outcome? Well the Rock is bigger and stronger but I’m fast, agile and smart so it would be good competition.

If your life were an action movie, what would it be called? “Trauma Drama.”

What are three things you couldn’t live without? Women (I love the ladies lol), coffee I can't get going with out it, good friends - my friends are like my family.

What’s your biggest fear? Being average- I always want to excel in whatever it is that I do.

What’s your biggest motivator? My biggest motivator is myself. I put more pressure on myself than anybody. I NEVER want to fail at anything.

Who’s your hero? Anyone in the military is my hero. They put their lives on the line everyday so we can be free; they are the true heroes.

What would be your theme song? "Right Where I Need to Be" by Gary Allen.

Why did you want to be on this show? First of all being on a show with The Rock is cool enough but at age 50 and after four surgeries over the last year-and-a-half I wanted to see if I still had it. I wanted to challenge my body and my mind - see if I could still kick some ass.

What gets your adrenaline pumping? My job being a trauma surgeon there is nothing that gets your adrenaline pumping more than when a critically injured patient comes in and you take over and pull that patient from the grips of death and save their life.

  • hero_cast_shaun_m1_sprite.png Shaun Age: 30
    Hometown: Hagerstown, Maryland
    Occupation: Professional Wrestler
Motto: "Live life, kick ass, laugh, get money, lift weights and eat steaks."
Shaun is a professional wrestler who is putting his life together piece by piece. He has two older brothers, but because of their age gap, he really grew up as an only child. That has given Shaun an independent spirit and the ability to do anything by himself. People often see him as the bad guy, but he has always had the desire to be the hero and sees himself as one because he stands up for the defenseless.

    MORE ABOUT SHAUN

What do you think it means to be a hero? To persevere through troubled times, make decisions that others are not willing to make, and to be willing to fail in order to ultimately succeed.

What is the most important quality that hero must possess? A level head.

When did you first realize you have what it takes to be a hero?  I have always wanted to be a hero and always believed I could be. I never got in fights as a kid unless it was to defend somebody who was being picked on, and that’s carried over to adulthood. I’m levelheaded and I realized I had what it takes to be that hero when I apprehended a man who was beating another man and stealing his belongings. I was able to wrestle him down and detain him until the police arrived.

What's your biggest strength? Belief in myself.

    What's your biggest weakness? Impatience.

You vs. The Rock: what would be the outcome? In the ring? That’s something I look forward to and plan on making happen, and I’ll tell exactly how it would go down. It would be very competitive. We both have that incredible spirit to be the best at what we do. He’s already there. I’m hungry to get there. After a long, competitive match up, Shaun Ricker is coming out on top, if ya sme-….  Ah, never mind. That’s not an insult. THAT…  is just a fact of life.

What are three things you couldn't live without? Meat, water, personal interaction.

What's your biggest fear? (For lack of a better answer) Suffocating to death.

Describe your most hero-like moment. My most hero-like moment is when I detained a man who was beating a smaller man and stealing his stuff. I pulled my car over and chased the guy. As I grabbed him, he swung a punch and missed and started to run. He then stopped about 20 yards away from me and just looked at me for a second. He then started walking back toward me and reached into his pants and motioned as though he had a gun pointing at me under his sweatshirt. Naturally, I ran, unaware whether he had a gun or not and ducked behind my car. He figured his job was done, yelled some things at me and then walked back toward the victim’s bike. I quietly snuck behind a van next to the bike and waited for him to get on the bike and get his balance. The second he got his balance, I ran and clotheslined him off the bike. He went over the front handlebars and as he came up, I reached around his throat with my left forearm, chicken winged his arm behind his back with my other arm and slammed him to the ground face first. I proceeded to choke him until he didn’t move and held him till the police got there. It was really a crazy experience.

What's your guilty pleasure? Pumpkin pie.

    What's your biggest motivator? Competition.

Who is your hero? Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you remove all the recent controversy surrounding him, his accomplishments are astounding. He did not aspire to be just a bodybuilder, he wanted to be the greatest bodybuilder of all time and that’s exactly what he did. From there, he wanted to become an actor, to which many people told him he could never do because of his accent and his size. Well, he proved all of them wrong and became one of the highest grossing actors of the 80s and 90s. From there, after being a bodybuilder and an actor, he became involved in politics and became the governor of California. His entire story is the embodiment of the American Dream and persevering through being told “No you can’t.”

What would be your theme song? “Diamonds are Forever” Kanye West & Jay-Z

Why did you want to be on this show? My initial interest in the show was due to The Rock’s involvement, and then when I found out the format of the show with the challenges, it sounded like an exciting combination. I love to challenge myself.

What gets your adrenaline pumping? Every time I step into a ring… off the charts.

Johnson is having another stellar year in 2013, appearing in a slew of vastly diverse movies. From the dramatic thriller “Snitch,” about a father who goes undercover for the DEA in order to free his son imprisoned after being set up in a drug deal; to “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” the second installment of the action adventure franchise opposite Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum; to the dramatic independent film “Empire State” with Liam Hemsworth and Emma Roberts; “Pain & Gain,” alongside Mark Wahlberg where the two team up as bodybuilders caught up in a kidnapping scheme gone wrong; and his return to the highly successful “Fast and Furious” franchise with “Fast and Furious 6”. The box office debut of “Fast and Furious 6” grossed $120 million domestically and $314 million worldwide—a franchise best and the biggest debut of all time for Universal.

In June 2013, America will see him on the new TNT show “The Hero” where Johnson will motivate and mentor competitors each week as they are faced with challenges pushing them to their limits.

Next up for the big screen Johnson will begin production on Brett Ratner’s “Hercules.” Also in the pipeline are Barry Sonnenfeld’s “Lore,” based on the Ashley Wood graphic novel, and “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3,” among other projects.

Johnson’s recent film, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” was a global box office hit- earning over $325 million in 2011.

Among Johnson’s previous films are a diverse list of credits which include “Race to Witch Mountain,” “The Tooth Fairy,” “Planet 51,” “Get Smart” and “The Game Plan.” In 2009 Entertainment Weekly named Johnson on the top of Hollywood’s next A-list, alongside, Robert Downey, Jr., Ellen Page, James McAvoy and Amy Adams.

The actor previously demonstrated his range, earning kudos from critics and audiences alike, as a gay bodyguard and an aspiring singer in “Be Cool,” MGM’s sequel to “Get Shorty,” alongside John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Vince Vaughn. Also for MGM, Johnson starred in the 2004 remake of “Walking Tall” as a sheriff who returns to his hometown after serving in the Army, only to find the town corrupted. Before that, Johnson starred in Universal’s “The Rundown,” a critically acclaimed action/comedy directed by Peter Berg and co-starring Sean William Scott, Rosario Dawson and Christopher Walken.

Dwayne’s love of acting and desire to branch out led him to appear on “Saturday Night Live” in March 2000, surprising many with his strength in the comedy and garnering the show’s highest rating that year. Johnson was subsequently cast by Stephen Sommers in “The Mummy Returns,” which grossed more than $400 million worldwide. His character was so well received by Universal executives during dailies that they immediately planned a film based on his character, “The Scorpion King,” which broke box office records in 2002 as the greatest April opening of all time.

Not content to remain in front of the camera alone, Johnson penned an autobiography, The Rock Says, which reached #1 on The New York Times Bestseller List shortly after its publication in January 2000.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Hawaii, Dwayne Johnson excelled as a high school All-American and subsequently as a star defensive lineman for the University of Miami Hurricanes, helping lead his team to overcome huge hurdles to become National Champions. Upon graduating from the University of Miami, Johnson followed in the footsteps of his WWE Hall of Fame father, Rocky Johnson, and grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, by joining the competitive sports entertainment world of the WWE. Within a seven year period (1996-2003), his intense passion led to an extraordinarily successful career breaking box office attendance records across the US and setting pay-per-view buy rate records during that period as well. Dwayne Johnson’s character creation of “The Rock” became one of the most charismatic and dynamic characters the industry has ever seen. In March 2012, Johnson made a record-breaking return to the WWE where he crushed John Cena at Wrestle Mania XXVIII in Miami.

Johnson created The Rock Foundation in 2006. The Rock Foundation’s mission is to educate, empower and motivate children worldwide through health and physical fitness. A dedicated philanthropist, Johnson is the current National spokesperson for the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Diabetes Aware Campaign. He is also a committed Celebrity Cabinet Member for The American Red Cross and serves as a National Celebrity Wish Ambassador for The Make-A-Wish Foundation. In 2008, United States Congress and the United States Joint Leadership Commission recognized Johnson with the prestigious Horizon Award, the U.S. Congressional Award given to an individual in the private sector who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and provided opportunities for youth nationwide.
