Taryn Manning

Taryn Manning is best known for her critically acclaimed role as Nola in the film "Hustle & Flow." She also starred in "Jack and Jill vs. the World" and appeared in "Kill Theory." More recently, Manning completed filming "The Job" and Taylor Hackford's "Love Ranch" with Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci.

In films, Manning performed in the forthcoming independent features "Your Name Here," "Speed of Thought" and "Waking Madison." Previously, Manning also starred in the film "Weirdsville," which premiered at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival. Her other feature film credits include "A Lot Like Love," "Crossroads," "Crazy Beautiful," "Cold Mountain," "White Oleander" and "Dandelion."

On television, Manning appeared in an episode of "Melrose Place," which also featured her music. She had a recurring role on "Sons of Anarchy." Her additional television credits include "Drive," guest appearances on "CSI: Miami" on CBS, "The Practice," "Popular" and "NYPD Blue."

In addition to films and television, Manning's second album, A Million Trillion Stars, from her band, Boomkat, has recently been released.

Both singles from Boomkat's first record, Boomkatalog One, "The Wreckoning" and "What You Do To Me," hit #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play Charts, and the band closed out 2003 as the #5 Hot Dance Club Play Artist for the year in Billboard Magazine. Boomkat's song, "Wastin' My Time," was personally licensed by Eminem and featured on the "8 Mile" soundtrack, which sold over six million records worldwide. Boomkat's remake of the Blondie song, "Rip Her to Shreds," can be heard in the opening credits of the film "Mean Girls," and "The Wreckoning" was licensed for use during the opening credits of "The Italian Job." A her new collection from her clothing line, Born Uniqorn, is currently available in stores and online.

Manning was born in Falls Church, Va., and raised in Tuscon, Ariz. A fierce competitor, she has won awards and recognition for both karate and roller-skating. After moving to California at age 12, she attended the prestigious Orange County High School for the Arts, where her dance, acting and voice talents were featured in numerous stage productions. She lives in Los Angeles and her birth date is Nov. 16.
