John Ross Ewing is the ambitious son of J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing. A chip off the old block, John Ross is determined to strike it rich in the oil industry and prove himself capable of stepping into his father's shoes. Growing up, John Ross was enticed by promises that the Ewing Oil empire would one day be his. In the midst of impressing his father by scheming to take Southfork from Bobby and Christopher, John Ross found his world crashing down when his girlfriend, Elena, discovered his plan. Even though John Ross has now formed Ewing Energies with Bobby and Christopher, his ultimate goal is to undermine them and gain total control of the company.

Henderson won over audiences playing Austin McCann, the bad-boy nephew of Nicolette Sheridan's Edie on the popular series Desperate Housewives. He starred on FX's critically acclaimed Steven Bochco series Over There, playing an ambitious young soldier coping with the tragic consequences of the war in Iraq. His other television roles include a recurring role on The CW drama 90210 and guest-starring roles on some of primetime's most popular shows, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Segueing effortlessly between the big and small screen, Henderson will next be seen in the psychological thriller Rushlights, starring Beau Bridges. The film centers on a pair of lovers who scam to steal an inheritance yet find themselves on the run in a small Alabama town. The film debuted at the Montreal Film Festival in August.
In addition, Henderson is currently working on the jndependent action-thriller Swelter. The film is based on four escaped prisoners stuck in a small, unbearably hot town where they are in search for the fifth man who fled with over $10 million. Other recent film credits include Disney's Step Up!, about a delinquent teen given a second chance, and Paramount's Broken Bridges, in which he shares screen time with fellow Oklahoman and country music superstar Toby Keith.
Henderson made his film debut in New Regency's The Girl Next Door, alongside Elisha Cuthbert, and Sony's remake of the family comedy Yours, Mine & Ours, with Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo. His other film credit include Fingerprints, The Jerk Theory and April Fool's Day.
A native of Texas, Henderson was raised in Tulsa, Okla., and moved to Los Angeles after winning a talent search for The WB reality show Pop Stars. He continues to write and perform music.
