"YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT?"

There was another example of brilliant hair work on this episode, but I probably shouldn't talk so much about myself...

…oh okay, just a little.

Remember the beautiful brunette woman in Goldibucks, the jewelry store? I'll bet you couldn't tell she was wearing a wig, could you? That's right. That's how we do things 'round these parts!

On to the real star of this episode. Even though we finally got to meet one of Provenza's many ex-wives, the real star was quite obviously "Frank," played by Buster the Bulldog.

One part of this zany episode, included a bit where Frank the Bulldog, ate a crucial piece of evidence - a latex glove - and our squad had to keep a good eye on him to be ready to gather it up, when it… er… reappeared.

Really.

Of course the problem, was that we couldn't actually feed the dog a real latex glove. So, our amazing Prop Master, Christopher Redmond, came up with an ingenious solution. I asked him to explain the very technical and scientific method he used to create a safe, edible, latex glove photo double:

CHRIS REDMOND: Here's how it went down. I told my wife Maura, who is a recovering A.D., what I needed to have happen. And since she's now a trained chef, she knew immediately what the answer was, which was a wonton wrapper. When you purchase it, it's brittle and crisp, but you dip it in water and it instantly becomes floppy, just like a rubber glove. So, instead of using water, we used beef bouillon to up the odds with the dog. We took the wonton wrappers, dipped them into beef bouillon they went soft, we patted them dry so they looked like a glove, and the dog ate 'em. The dog would've eaten 'em all day long.

Ah, the tricks of the trade.

I have a special place in my heart for Redmond, because basically, we both dress like giant toddlers. And he's a father of two!

This episode marked the directorial debut of our very own Jon Tenney. You may know him as Special Agent Fritz Howard of the F.B.I., married to one Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson of the L.A.P.D. Jon did an amazing job, and watching him in action was so fun. He was like a kid in a candy store!

Or maybe, like a bulldog in a beefy glove store.

You be the judge.

Stacey has been burnin' hair on Hollywood TV and Film sets since 1996. She is a two-time Emmy nominee for her Hair Styling prowess on "GLEE." Her other credits include the feature films "THE STEPFATHER," "RUNNING WITH SCISSORS," "THE MINUS MAN," and TV Series "NIP/TUCK," "JAKE IN PROGRESS," "THE D.A.," "EZ STREETS," "PROVIDENCE," "CSI:NY," "TOTAL SECURITY," TNT's "THE CLOSER," and the new "MAJOR CRIMES," where she is enjoying season 1 as Department Head Hairstylist. Stacey also made the jump to Director during season 6 of The Closer, on the episode "Last Woman Standing," and since the episode didn't suck, she was handed the reigns once again for her second episode,"Star Turn," during season 7. She somehow snowed the powers-that-be into letting her direct an episode of "Major Crimes" during season 1. Her methods of persuasion remain a mystery. She also enjoys making music and movies. And hobo salmon.
