THE CLOSER
THANK YEW

We always have talented, strong, genuinely nice, professional guest actors on "The Closer," and this episode is no exception.

I remember vividly the first time I read the script for this ep, written by Jim Leonard (who is new to our show this season, but seems like he's been here forever, by the way), and being excited right away about who would be cast in the role of the Police Commissioner's wife.

Elizabeth Perkins, anyone?

She came in, the sweetest person, such a pro, such a powerhouse!

This ep was directed by my main man Nelson McCormick, and he's such a genius, he knew, Elizabeth Perkins in scenes with Kyra Sedgwick? Pure gold.

Also, if I may be allowed to geek out a little bit here. Watching Elizabeth chatting with Kevin Bacon… Do I have to point out the obvious? "He Said, She Said." Ring any bells?

Now, we are a respectful crew, by anyone's standards, I would imagine. I think so anyway. We are all fans of the craft of filmmaking, and that includes, in a major part, acting. So we all feel pretty lucky that we are able to be right there to witness the performances, up close and in person.

This episode had a little extra something special going on with these two ladies. I can't wait to see the finished episode!

It's a really sad story that is probably familiar to more people than we'd care to know. Hopefully it's a cautionary tale as well as good TV drama! And because we never let anything come between us and a good party, especially human suffering, Michele and Liz in the Hair and Makeup department sponsored an Oktoberfest party! Yay! Lots of silly hats, beer steins and bad accents.

If you get anything at all from this episode and blog, please let it be:

"Nicht drink and Drive. Trinken verantwortungsvoll! Holen Sie sich einen Fahrer!"
