episode 403 - August 4, 2008
When actor JK Simmons who plays Chief Will Pope saw Kyra Sedgwick as Brenda walking onto the set wearing her heather laurel green twin set and form fitting black flecked tweed skirt, he thanked me. Thanked me for putting Kyra in that skirt I presume, because it is a feast for the eyes to watch Miss Sedgwick walk in a tight skirt or even one of her flowing skirts, that girl knows how to walk!!! Slap a pair of high heels on her and the wiggle factor increases ten fold. Kyra walking often influences my costume choices. If I know that there will be a walk and talk in the hallways of Parker Center I am very aware of what she should be wearing. This season, the pencil skirts seem to have won out, but fear not, flirty skirts will be appearing off and on.
I was feeling a lot of green this epsiode, maybe it was the money from the drug story line or just that Kyra looks really good in green, but her second change is a vintage wasabi and golden wheat Irene jacket, another e-bay find and this one didn't come with a skirt darn it! but the detailing on this jacket is amazing. It's double breasted and has a notched shawl collar with clear glass oval buttons. That Irene! We made a pair of basil green wide legged pants that take the place of one of Brenda's flowing skirts, for a spicy color accent I put a paprika Pure cashmere camisole, they call it soft red, under the jacket.
The killer, Dean, played by Kevin Rankin sports a ring that was important in solving the murder, scripted as a "distinctive ring" this was found in the mens department of Neiman Marcus, Beverly Hills and was a great piece of jewelry. His jeans and t-shirts all came from Macy's at the Beverly Center.
We shot the exteriors in a gritty section of downtown L.A., wonderful for the tone of the show. During the filming in a rancid alley, upon the discovery of the body, a huge rat, not an actor, skittered through the crew members leg, very close to yours truly and over the top of the "dead" actor and brushed up against Corey Reynolds Valenti suit pants!!! Even though Corey is from NYC the sight and feel of a live rat was a bit unsettling, however the scene went on and the rat is waiting for his close up!
Until next week, my little priority posers, I'm closing the Closer Closet door and prepping another high profile murder case.
