episodes 312-313 - December 3, 2007

Merry Christmas, Closer style! What a way to celebrate the season, Brenda Leigh, Willie Ray a murder and an R.V. Just saw the two part event myself for the first time when it aired on Monday night, December 3. We've been out of production since we finished the finale in August, all of the scenes where Brenda, Fritz and the parents were in winter coats were shot during L.A. 's worst heat wave in history. One day the temperatures were over 100 degrees in the shade and Miss Kyra was in cashmere and wool head to toe.

Brenda's floral print dress in the opening scene was a vintage Diane Von Furstenberg from the 1970's, an Italian silk knit still in perfect condition. When Brenda and Fritz arrived in Atlanta I chose a vintage Saks Fifth Avenue coral wool coat with pin tucks at the waist and hem, with the editing you couldn't see the awesome details, when she took off the coat and sat under the Christmas tree Brenda had her “traveling suit” on, something Mom would have approved of…a gorgeous caramel wool suit from 1947 designed for the chic Denver department store Neusteters, where my own mama shopped in the 1960's!!! Everyone is raving about the hot pink sweater with the intarsia black bow tied on the front…unfortunately my darlings, it was bought at my secret source in L.A. where clothes go to die…it was a couple seasons ago Millie, Millie is available all over, currently at Neiman Marcus, but you might be able to find the sweater at an outlet that carries Millie.

In the family photo Willie Ray is wearing a Christmas sweater that I found on e-bay, her mismatched red and green earrings are vintage Chanel, the actress Frances Sternhagen asked if she could wear one of each color…see that's where Brenda gets her quirkiness!!! I love when an actress gets so into character that they ask to do a bit of business as simple as wearing two different colored earrings and it is totally the character! The men-folk, ie Clay and Fritz wear well…Clay and Fritz costumes. Clay is in a polyester jogging suit from the Blair catalog and Fritz is in a Banana Republic cashmere sweater. It was so much fun spending Christmas with Brenda Leigh and her family, too bad there had to be a murder, lies and cross country tip to complicate the holiday…but after all, this is a Closer Christmas.

Here's some very exciting news…keep your fingers crossed ladies, but I HAVE been hearing all of your pleas for the Brenda Bag and after many meetings that my lawyer had with Warner Brothers we may be producing the Brenda Bag and selling it on line to coincide with the premier of the 4 th season of The Closer!!! Not sure of the price or details other than it will be a direct copy of Brenda's actual bag!!! Watch the TNT site for all sorts of publicity and info concerning THE BAG!!!
