episode 307 - July 30, 2007

I gotta tell you all that for Brenda and all the real gals out there, vintage is where it's at. Why do you want to see yourself coming and going when you can stop by a vintage clothing store or your local Goodwill or Salvation Army and for a fraction of the cost buy an incredible jacket, suit or coat made from natural fibers and with a silhouette that can't be duplicated today. That's why I LOVE to put Brenda Leigh in VINTAGE! This stunning ink blue jacket was from my new favorite Golden Age of Hollywood designer Irene. I buy most of the Irene's that I use on The Closer on, where else...ebay. This particular jacket is more simple than most, with the fabric being the star and the details taking a back seat, simple little tabs that highlight the buttons and of course, my master tailor, Carlos Zepeda, works his magic to make this jacket from the 1940's fit Miss Sedgwick within a fraction of an inch! I owe much of the success of the "Brenda Look" to Mr. Carlos. He is a true artist, so here's the tip of the day. As I said, "buy vintage" then search out the very best tailor in your area and have him or her re-cut, re-shape and re-work that jacket or suit to make it oh-so-hip for 2007. The trick is don't wear a 1940's suit and think that you're in that era, it's not then, it's now! New and Now=WOW!!!
