episode 305 - July 16, 2007

Sometimes when I read a script and find out what mess Brenda has gotten herself into an outfit just begs to be used. When Brenda and Fritz went house hunting I knew that she must wear her signature Brenda pink...in fact every shade of pink was used in this creation. I had purchased a wonderfully tacky polyester jacket from the ‘70's by one of my favorite designers Lili Ann, she was a very popular suit manufacturer in the 1940's out of San Francisco, many of Brenda's fabulous vintage suits with color blocked details are Lili Ann's. This pretty in pink number was an e-bay find from Texas. Perfect for a day of house hunting. I paired the tacky jacket with a pink cashmere sweater from Pure and a yummy pair of dusty rose velvet pants by Ballinciaga that I got at my favorite store where clothes go to die, my secret source for all things Brenda. The shoes were last seasons pink suede Gucci loafers that I had put in the episode Slippin. When I showed Miss Sedgwick the costume combination she gave me one of those priceless Kyra looks like, "have you lost your mind?" But she said she'd try it and voila...pretty in pink! The only problem was I usually only put Miss Sedgwick in fine wools and cashmere, not man made fibers. Luckily the week of shooting was cool, we were in Long Beach and the polyester, although warm, did make an incredible statement, however, some of those statements were negative...but you know what, it was classic Brenda and I stand by my polyester princess!
