episode 303 - July 2, 2007

Only Brenda Leigh Johnson could wear a dress and sweater suite that takes her from a funeral to a wedding and then drinks and dinner with Fritz!!! It’s all about being a classy southern gal! This beautiful dress and sweater is again from one of my favorite stores The Way We Wore, 334 S. La Brea Ave in L.A. The Bridezilla that Brenda scuffles with is resplendent in an original Monique Lhuillier, designer for red carpet and weddings. Unfortunately most brides need only one dress for the big day, but for this episode we had to buy three gowns, one to maintain pristine, one to drag around a parking lot and distress and one for the stunt gal. Let’s face it, life in The Closer Costume Department is never boring.

I’ve been reading the fan site and it’s interesting the comments that the fans write about. We pretty much dress our cops and Brenda in a reality based world, unlike other shows on t.v. Just like real people, we shop where the real cops would shop, not the high end stores that these working class guys and ladies could never afford, except for a character like Sgt. Gabriel. Many of his suits are Paul Smith or Dolce Gabbana, but we rationalize that David Gabriel saves his money and likes to look good. As for ties and shirts the keen eyed fan will see that we re-use many ties, shirts and suits all the way back to first season! So that puts some of those rumors to rest. Our whole mission for The Closer costumes is to start from a place of reality…believe it or not, even for Brenda!
