Season 7, Episode 8: "Death Warrant" - September 1, 2011

Bing Bang Bingity Bang! Ray Diamond! Gavin Q. Baker! AND Sharon Raydor! AND Brenda!!!

WOW! What acting in an amazing episode, one of the best of all seven seasons. Last week we had the big shoot 'em up with the exploding fish tank, this week a high speed chase through downtown L.A.'s Olverra Street district; stunt drivers, actors in speeding vehicles, a car crash and Bing Bang Bingity Bang, Rador shoots the shooter right between the eyes and gains the respect of Major Crimes and Brenda Leigh Johnson ... the tides are a turning and this is only the beginning and I wonder why I'm tired every night after a day of shooting.

The subtlety of the aforementioned actors. Ray Diamond with his "shtreet" vernacular and his posturing and that kiss ... ugh. He wore a minty green jail scrub set to identify him as a Trustee. Gavin Q. Baker with his cocky-always-watching-the-clock arrogant attorney with his brooches that have caused a bit of a stir on the internet message boards and his suave acting skills of truly listening and reacting to the events as they unfold sometimes without saying a word. Brilliant. Raydor who finally gains the trust and respect of the squad and BLJ by becoming "one of them" but for how long and with what price? Some of Mary McDonnell's simple side glances and smirk/smiles and nods and smug come-upances are so Raydor yet so un-Raydor. The woman we love to hate. Wearing an Armani look-a-like that we had to double in wool crepe and her 3.5 inch Manolo Blanick's that actually caused her to trip and take a tumble on the Olverra Street cobble stones, but she's a trooper, she got up and shot the guy square between the eyes! And then there's Brenda, dumping her life contents at the jail check in, walking the gauntlet of bing bang bingity bang with the sashay of the print skirt, the pink pumps and her second skin of an Irene jacket in a blushy pink sandstone color with the pink glass oval buttons, how can one lady look so fantastic in a vintage jacket and flirty skirt ... swoon!!! And when Kyra says the words and you believe them then when she says nothing at all and reacts to the situation with just those eyes, those expressive, soulful, worldly eyes -- well, it doesn't get better than that. She absolutely makes me shake my head with wonder when she can be so powerful without uttering a word. WOW!

Just because I highlighted these aforementioned actors doesn't mean that our squad and other guest stars weren't top drawer, they were. Gavin's interviews of the boys, Bing! DDA Hobbs with her OMG when she realized her arm had been grazed by a bullet, Bang! Fritz, being the hero and then Brenda's hug after she realized he was okay, just the reverse of last week, Bingity! and the pompous Robert with his tone on tone "Armani" look based on Richard Gere in American Gigolo, the taupe suit, the Lanvin tie, the too long hand shake with BLJ and re: Fritz -- "Andrea, who is he? I don't like him!" Bang!

Oh my, I'm tired just writing these last two blogs ... the drama, the stunts, the story, what's next???
