DRAMATIC DIFFERENCE

SABRINA WILLIAMS AND AMERICA SCORES

TNT's Dramatic Difference celebrates everyday heroes making a difference in their communities.

Our schools and neighborhoods are filled with these people who never seek recognition for all the amazing good they do for others. They lend a helping hand, offer their time and show kindness out of the goodness of their hearts. This February, TNT spotlights one such person making a dramatic difference in her community – Sabrina Williams.

This Chicago mother and volunteer has worked tirelessly to improve literacy education in her area, for her own four children as well as the community's. Williams began her altruistic path by becoming chair of the parent committee at her children's elementary school, where all four got involved in America SCORES -- a Chicago afterschool program aimed at inspiring urban youth to lead healthy, engaging lives. After her children graduated high school, Williams continued her work with America SCORES by volunteering as a writing coach for 3rd- , 4th- and 5th-grade boys. In addition, she's active in her church and a community women's shelter.

Though her husband suddenly passed away five years ago, Williams didn't let the personal tragedy detract from her community work. She's able to see how her involvement with literacy education benefits children every day -- building their confidence and offering them important skills needed to succeed later in life. "Being a volunteer, I get back as much as I give," Williams said.

In honor of Sabrina Williams and literacy volunteers everywhere, Dollar General is making a $10,000 donation to America SCORES to help the organization fulfill its mission.
